What Is The Best Exercise For Your Abs With Out Making Your Back Too Sore?

I’m trying to get in better shape for my senior year. I’ve tried many exercises. Though I try not to work my back too much because I have scoliosis. It’s not severe or anything, yet I don’t want to work my spine too much. They say its good to exercise your back, and I do. But right i’m focusing on my abbs. So please tell me your sugestions. Thanks.

I put my butt, legs, etc, straight up against the wall and do 200 crunches every day. I’ve had three children. My first child stretched my tummy out really bad, I never thought it would look the same, I lost the weight, but never the pouch, then after my 3rd, I did 200 crunches a night (amongst other body beneficial exercises) and by the 5th month, it almost looked normal again, I was amazed, it just takes time,.

I’m not a doctor or anything but I would suggest getting a stability ball and doing crunchs and other ab work on that. The ball is suppose to aid in prevent back pain while working the abdominals while stregthening it at the same time. Most balls come with either a video or chart of exercises that you can follow.

I would discuss this with a physical therapist. I’ve always been under the impression that over training your abs and not strengthening your back is BAD.
Most inssurance companies allow for 1 or 2 free visits to a PT doctor. Try this before you start training your abs.
I do know that there are (non-weight) floor exercises that you can do to strengthen your back.
