I work the overnight shift(10pm to 6 am) and was wondering what time of the day would be the most effective for me to exercise and keep my metabolism up.

The best time is the time that you can stick to on a consistent schedule. It should be no closer than 2-3 hours before you go to sleep-it can keep you awake.
There have been studies that indicate excising as soon as you wake up is not the best time since your immune system is lower and are more likely to get sick. But with that said, if that is the time that is the best for consistency go for it. Make sure you have a simple carb like a banana for energy never on an empty stomach.

I usually do yoga and low impact right before I go to bed. It helps me sleep.But other times I do high impact to give me energy for the day. But I only do it once a day unless i find mysels sitting a lot then I do “secretary” excersizes. That is when you find yourself seated in n the same position for hours during the day you constantly move your legs. Tense and release your buttocks. Open and release your hands the squeeze tightly. While I am reading something on the puter I will move my arms in backward postion and over my head nd even do arm circles. It i to keep the unmoving body moving.
Sometimes I forget to do it at all and I feel awful the next day.
It is bet to do it when you feel it is the right time. Even if it is just stretching do something of value for your body. It is the only one you have and…..you have to take it with you every where for the rest of your life.
